Recycle Plastics
The table below shows the meaning of the recycle symbols on plastic containers. There is no reason that any plastic item could not be recycled, however according to waste authorities it is currently not economically viable to do so. This means that most Councils and Waste Authorities, including Rother, will currently only collect plastic items in categories 1, 2 and 3.

If you live in Rother you currently have to take your plastics to a recycling centre. Rother Council has started a kerbside plastic collection (Selected plastics: 1,2 & 3 only)which you must put in your small black bin.
Some supermarkets are now starting to sell ready meals in "compostable" packaging and most sell "green" carrier bags.
