Bexhill Observer: BALI reaches first £10,000

"Pressure group BALI has reached its first-stage target of £10,000 for its "war chest" fund to fight plans for landfill in Turkey Road.
Bexhill Against Landfill / Incineration says there is still a long way to go to reach its £50,000 target, but the team is confident that the people of Bexhill will continue to join the 100 Club by investing £100.
If the funds are not used after five years the investment will be returned with interest.
BALI says:"This money is strictly ringfenced and will only be used in the event of a planning application being submitted to the Council to use the Ashdown brickworks site for landfill."
Bali hopes that the most vulnerable households will continue to consider their position and give generously.
The organisation says all citizens of Bexhill should be " greatly concerned with the prospect of another Pebsham on their doorstep for the next 50 years."
The pressure group says it cannot reconcile plans for regeneration of Bexhill with the inclusion of the Turkey Road clay quarries in the County Council's waste local plan.
"A landfill site will negate any regeneration schemes."
