Bexhill Observer: Landfill Campaigners are fighting on: October 20th 2006

"The BALI 100 Fighting Fund established last month by Bexhill Against Landfill / Incineration is gathering pace.
The fund was launched because a "war chest" in the region of £50,000 will be required in order to hire the best advocates to fight any planning application for a landfill site at the Ibstock brickworks in Turkey Road.
This is the only site earmarked for landfill in the county waste plan.
An appeal has to be made within six weeks of a planning application.
The pressure group is circulating booklets outlining its scheme. But BALI said this week that it desperately needs more people to help them do this work.
BALI says it is important for the residents of Bexhill to appreciate that a landfill site in close proximity to the town will do nothing for its regeneration, will have a serious impact on property prices and will further increase road congestion and pollution.
The organisation is inviting the public to invest £100 in the BALI 100 Fighting Fund. It says the money will be held in a designated account with the Yorkshire Building Society and will not be used for any other purpose than fighting a planning application or for BALI to lodge an appeal.
If there is no application or appeal "live" within 5 years time, the trustees will wind up the fund and individual investments will be returned including interest."
